Need more curriculum

All the curriculum is starting to show up. It has been frustrating for all of us on getting a routine started.

D2 is still having trouble with getting his work done.

I think I have found a solution that might work.

Sunday night we get together and put our schedule together. We decide on activities as well as dinners.

Then if they get things done they will get some coins. In the treasure chest are toys that they have picked out and they cost different amounts. So far they have been more motivated and taking more of an interest with getting their work done and getting their coins.

Here is our schedule I made:

Here are the coins and the treasure chest of toys.

We haven't opened up the other two boxes of toys yet so that it can motivate them to continue working. They are really excited for the ones in the box and I think next week they will earn those items to add to the treasure chest.

I really hope this works.
Next week I think will be easier. The math, science, and history all arrived finally! Just waiting for Language arts.

Official first start

It is our first official start to homeschooling.

First on the agenda is coming up with a school name.

Thus the name The Little Dickens School. D & D were very excited about this name.

Next on the agenda is coming up with a school mascot. I think we will have an answer to that in the next few days.

We are starting out slow with our work and getting use to the new routine.

This morning we discussed the hexagon shape and how bees and wasps use it and why. We decided to make our own hexagons and then we got carried away with making lots of different shapes with it.

We had some practice sheets for handwriting and D2 was feeling too frustrated with writing on paper. So D1 finished his. We will try again with D2.

Next up we played night zookeeper. D & D really enjoyed that. It's been really fun to see the characters they have come up with and the stories that go along with it. So creative and I love that they are working together on some of it.

We also listened to our musical multiplication songs while we did our handwriting. They aren't big fans of that, but I am hoping that they will get use to it.

I am really hoping the rest of our curriculum comes in this week.

Tomorrow we will tackle some science and maybe some history.

Wish us luck!
